In Jyotish, your Moon sign (Rashi) describes temperament, habits and how you process life. It is not the same as a Western Sun-sign horoscope: we use the sidereal zodiac, so your Moon sign is usually one sign earlier than in tropical astrology. Enter your birth details and we calculate the Moon at the moment you were born, using the Lahiri ayanamsa by default. The Moon moves about one sign every 2.25 days, so the date alone usually—but not always—fixes the Moon sign; without a reliable birth time, both signs are shown if the Moon changed locally that day.

FAQ
Moon sign questions
What is my Rashi?
Rashi is the Sanskrit word for zodiac sign. Your birth Rashi is the sidereal sign the Moon occupied at birth. It is central to Indian astrology for mind, emotions and compatibility.
Moon sign vs Sun sign?
Western pop astrology emphasizes the tropical Sun sign. Vedic astrology weights the Moon heavily for personality and timing. Many people have a different Moon sign than Sun sign in both systems.
Why is my Vedic sign different from Western?
Vedic charts use the sidereal zodiac aligned to the stars. The tropical zodiac used in the West is shifted by about 24 degrees, so signs often move back one position.
Do I need an exact birth time?
For Moon sign only, the date and place are often enough because the Moon changes sign about every 2.25 days—not every hour. An unknown birth time can still give one sign for the whole day, but not always; when midnight and end-of-day disagree locally, we show both.
Which ayanamsa do you use?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) is the default, matching most Indian panchangas. You can switch to Raman or KP in chart settings.
